No matter what service you need for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), you can trust all the work to Resicon Electric here in Tacoma and throughout the Puget Sound area. Our team has extensive training and certification, much of which exceeds what is expected from residential and commercial HVAC experts thanks to our government contract work.

We specialize in service for Mitsubishi ductless systems, also known as ductless mini splits and ductless heat pumps, which are flexible and energy-saving alternatives to conventional heating and central air conditioning.

You place immense trust in our work when you hire us to provide HVAC service for your Washington home or business, and we will do everything we can to see you enjoy a comfortable and healthy living environment. It’s our philosophy to value people’s time and never waste it.

Why Should You Choose a Ductless System?

At Resicon Electric, we encourage you to consider a Mitsubishi ductless mini split heat pump as an alternative to the conventional ducted heater and air conditioner. A ductless system uses mini air handlers placed on the walls of rooms around a house or business, each of which connects to a single outdoor unit. The air handlers send heated or cooled air directly into living and working spaces with no need for ducts.

Ductless systems perform at superior energy efficiency because they do not lose and gain heat through duct walls. These systems are flexible and excellent for older homes and businesses as well as new construction projects.

How Does Ductless Heating and Air Conditioning Work?

A ductless mini split heat pump is ingeniously simple in how it eliminates ducts from the heating and cooling process. A standard traditional heat pump is a split system, meaning the system consists of a single outdoor unit and single indoor unit. An air handler blower unit sends the conditioned air from the indoor unit, through a duct system, into the space in the room or building that needs the heating or cooling.

Other the other hand, a ductless system may use multiple smaller air handler units that can be mounted unobtrusively high on walls in different rooms throughout your Washington house or business. The indoor units are still connected to the outdoor component (usually referred to as a condenser or compressor), allowing them to heat and cool air in each living and working space as needed.

In this way the system can divide your home or office into several zones, adding greater comfort, flexibility, and efficiency for the occupants. No need for ducts—heating and cooling comes straight from the mini air handlers in each zone. Mitsubishi systems can be designed with several other air handler components, such as ceiling cassettes and floor units, that allow even greater flexibility for you.

What Are the Benefits of Going With Ductless Heating and Cooling?

Here are some of the reasons we recommend ductless heating and cooling systems:

Dual-function heating and cooling. Like any heat pump, a ductless mini split works as both an energy-efficient heating system and a powerful cooling system.

Reduced energy use. The motors in ductless systems are “smarter” than in conventional heat pumps, and they much use less power. Unlike standard heating or cooling systems that are either 100 percent on or 100 percent off, ductless system motors are inverter driven—meaning they can speed up or slow down based on the need.

When only a little energy is needed to maintain the temperature, that is all the system uses. In addition, the lack of ducts prevents the common ductwork heat loss/heat gain, thereby improving energy efficiency over a ducted system.

Flexibility. Ductless mini splits give older homes the opportunity to enjoy centralized comfort without having to find a way to construct ducts where there is no room. This also makes them great for new building projects.

There are a variety of components available that make designing a system easy. And if you have an old oil or gas furnace, there are solutions for that as well.

Better indoor air quality. Ducts collect dander, dust, lint, and more. Without ducts, there will not be as many pollutants and allergens circulating throughout your home or office.

Zone control. The different air handlers in the home can be controlled separately from one another. Your home or business can enjoy temperatures suited to different rooms and the different comfort needs of the people in them.
